Our story

I (Kira) decided that I desperately needed the sewing machine I found on Facebook Marketplace even though I had zero idea how to sew. I recruited my mom, naturally, and we began to make simple projects that I would then give to my friends (I would like to sincerely apologize to all of those who received the first items I made. They were terrible.). At some point, others were asking to buy our scrunchies and we thought “why not!” and began making them to sell. One project led to another and we eventually grew into a full business at some point.

This led us to our first craft show! I had to go by myself for the first day of sales and all I remember is not having a moment to take a breath. As soon as I did I called my mom and told her to start panic sewing because we had fully sold out on day one of our three day show. We sewed until 2am and woke up at 6am to keep sewing to have product to sell. It was a fantastic lesson for our business (we’ve never been that underprepared for a show again).

At that point I knew I needed reinforcements. I recruited my Mema to flip scrunchies for us and even had my brother try his hand at using the sewing machine (he made one scrunchie strip and decided it wasn’t for him; I’m still very proud). Our mother-daughter business became a family business and we all put our heart and soul into the products we make. Though we have other jobs, my mom and I are thinking of this business constantly and know that this is our dream job. I have always wanted to make things for other people and I’m eternally grateful that I have the chance to do just that.
